Proverbs 08 01-36 ABV – Excellence
Does not wisdom call, and understanding lift up her voice?
She takes her stand, on top of the heights beside the way, where the paths meet;
beside the gates, at the opening to the city, at the entrance of the doors, she cries out:
To you, O men, I call, and my voice is to the sons of men.
O simple ones, understand prudence; and, O fools, understand wisdom!
Listen, for I will speak noble things; and the opening of my lips teach right things.
For my mouth will speak truth; and wickedness is an abomination to my lips!
All the words of my mouth are in righteousness; there is nothing deceptive or perverted in them.
They are all straightforward to him who understands, and right to those who find knowledge.
Receive my instruction and not silver, and knowledge rather than choice gold.
For wisdom is better than jewels; and all desirable things are not to be compared with it.

I, wisdom, dwell with prudence, and I find knowledge and discretion.
The fear of the Lord is to hate evil; pride and arrogance and the evil way and the perverted mouth, I hate.
Counsel and sound wisdom is mine; I am understanding, power is mine.
By me kings reign, and rulers decree justice.
By me princes rule, and nobles, all who judge righteously.
I love those who love me; and those who seek me early will find me.
Riches and honor are with me, enduring wealth and righteousness.
My fruit is better than gold, even pure gold, and my revenue better than choice silver.
I walk in the way of righteousness, in the midst of the paths of justice,
giving wealth as an inheritance to those who love me, and filling their treasuries.

The Lord possessed me at the beginning of His way, before His older works.
I was established from everlasting, from the beginning, before the earth began.
I was brought forth when there were no depths, when there were no springs abounding with water;
before the mountains were settled, before the hills I was brought forth;
while He had not yet made the earth and the fields, nor the first dust of the world.
When He established the heavens, I was there, when He inscribed a circle on the face of the depth;
when He placed the skies above, when He strengthened the springs of the deep,
when He set for the sea its boundary so that the water would not pass His command, when He laid out the foundations of the earth;
then I was beside Him, as a skilled workman; and I was daily His delight, rejoicing always before Him;
rejoicing in His habitable part of his earth, and having my delight in the sons of men.

Now therefore, O sons, listen to me, for blessed are they who keep my ways!
Hear instruction and be wise, and do not avoid it.
Blessed is the man who listens to me, watching daily at my gates, waiting by the posts of my doors.
For he who finds me finds life, and obtains favor from the Lord,
yet he who sins against me harms himself; all those who hate me love death.

Proverbs 7 Adultery

Proverbs 07 01-27 ABV – Adultery
My son, keep my words and treasure my commandments within you.
Keep my commandments and live, and my teaching as the apple of your eye.
Bind them on your fingers; write them on the tablet of your heart.
Say to wisdom, You are my sister, and call understanding your intimate friend;
That they may keep you from an adulteress, from the foreigner who flatters with her words.

For at the window of my house I looked out through my lattice,
and I saw among the simple ones, and discerned among the youths, a young man lacking sense,
passing through the street near her corner; and he takes the way to her house,
in the twilight, in the evening, in the dark of the night.
And behold, a woman comes to meet him, dressed as a harlot and cunning of heart.
She is loud and stubborn, her feet do not remain at home;
she is now in the streets, now in the squares, and lurks by every corner.
So she seizes him and kisses him and with a brazen face she says to him:
I was due to offer peace offerings; today I have paid my vows.
Therefore I come out to meet you, to earnestly seek your face, and I have found you.
I have spread my couch with coverings, with colored linens of Egypt.
I have sprinkled my bed with myrrh, aloes and cinnamon.
Come, let us drink our fill of love until morning; let us delight ourselves with caresses!
For my husband is not at home, he has gone on a long journey;
he has taken a bag of money with him, and will come home at the full moon.
With her many persuasions she entices him; with her flattering lips she seduces him.
Suddenly he follows her as an ox goes to the slaughter, or as a fool in a trap for the restraint,
until an arrow pierces through his liver; as a bird hastens to the snare, and does not know that it will cost his life.

Now therefore, my sons, listen to me, and pay attention to the words of my mouth.
Do not let your heart turn aside to her ways, do not stray into her paths.
For she has cast down many victims, and many have been slain by her.
Her house is the way to Sheol, descending to the chambers of death.

Proverbs 6 Foolishness

Proverbs 06 01-35 ABV – Foolishness
My son, if you have put up security for your neighbor, have given a pledge for a stranger,
if you have been snared with the words of your mouth, have been caught with the words of your mouth,
do this then, my son, and deliver yourself; since you have come into the hand of your neighbor, go, humble yourself, and plead with your neighbor.
Give no sleep to your eyes, nor slumber to your eyelids;
Deliver yourself like a gazelle from the hunter’s hand and like a bird from the hand of the fowler.

Go to the ant, O sluggard, observe her ways and be wise,
which, having no guide, overseer or ruler,
prepares her food in the summer and gathers her provision in the harvest.
How long will you lie down, O sluggard? When will you arise from your sleep?
A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest.
Your poverty will come in like a robber, and your need like an armed man.

A worthless person, a wicked man, is the one who walks with a perverse mouth;
who winks with his eyes, who signals with his feet, who points with his fingers;
who with perversity in his heart continually devises evil, who spreads strife.
Therefore his calamity will come suddenly; he will be broken instantly and without remedy.

There are 6 things which the Lord hates, yes, 7 which are an abomination to Him:
arrogant eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that run rapidly to evil,
a false witness who utters lies, and one who stirs up strife among brothers.

My son, observe the commandment of your father and do not forsake the teaching of your mother;
bind them continually on your heart; tie them around your neck.
When you walk, they will guide you; when you sleep, they will watch over you; when you awake, they will talk to you.
For the commandment is a lamp and the teaching is light; and reproofs for discipline are the way of life;
to keep you from the evil woman, from the flattery tongue of the adulteress.
Do not desire her beauty in your heart, nor let her captivate you with her eyelids.
For on account of a whore, one is reduced to a loaf of bread, yet an adulteress hunts for the precious life.
Can a man take fire in his bosom and his clothes not be burned?
Or can a man walk on hot coals without scorching his feet?
So is the one who goes in to his neighbor’s wife; whoever touches her will not go unpunished.
A thief is not despised when he steals to satisfy himself when he is hungry;
yet when he is found, he must repay sevenfold; he must give all the substance of his house.
The one who commits adultery with a woman is lacking sense; he who does it would destroy himself;
he will find wounds and disgrace, and his reproach will not be wiped out.
For jealousy enrages a man, and he will not show mercy in the day of vengeance;
he will not accept any ransom, nor will he be persuaded though you give many gifts.

Proverbs 5 Immorality

Proverbs 05 01-23 ABV – Immorality
My son, give attention to my wisdom, incline your ear to my understanding;
that you may observe discretion and your lips may keep knowledge.
For the lips of an adulteress drip honey and her mouth is smoother than oil;
yet in the end she is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword.
Her feet go down to death, her steps take hold of Sheol.
She does not ponder the path of life; she does not know that her ways are unstable.
So now, my sons, listen to me and do not depart from the words of my mouth.
Keep your way far from her and do not go near the door of her house,
or you will give your vigor to others and your years to the cruel one;
and strangers will be filled with your strength and your earnings will go to the house of a stranger;
and you will mourn at the end, when your flesh and your body are consumed;
and you will say, How I have hated instruction! And my heart despised reproof!
I have not listened to the voice of my teachers, nor inclined my ear to my instructors!
I was almost in complete ruin in the midst of the assembly and congregation.

Drink water from your own cistern and fresh water from your own well.
Should your springs be dispersed abroad, streams of water in the streets?
Let them be yours alone and not for strangers with you.
Let your fountain be blessed, and rejoice in the wife of your youth.
As a loving hind and a graceful doe, let her breasts satisfy you at all times; be ravished always with her love.
For why should you, my son, be ravished with an adulteress woman and embrace the breast of a stranger?
For the ways of a man are before the eyes of the Lord, and He watches all his paths.
His own iniquities will capture the wicked, and he will be held with the cords of his sin.
He will die for lack of instruction, and in the greatness of his folly he will go astray.
